Phoenix Life First

Phoenix Petroleum Foundation Inc., led by President Cherylyn C. Uy, lives up to its core value of stewardship through projects in service of the community. As stewards, we nurture our resources responsibly. By giving back, we contribute to elevating the quality of life of the people we help, because we believe that life comes first.

The foundation’s primary purpose is to engage, support and or participate in social activities and functions geared towards the development, protection, alleviation, education and or empowerment of the needy, depressed and miserable members of the society.

Fire truck

To protect Phoenix property and aid Davao City during fires, Phoenix Petroleum acquired a fire truck on March 2008, a conscious move towards being a better corporate citizen, and a part of our social responsibility program.

The fire truck is primarily a fire protection equipment for company facilities. But while the company could have bought a different fire protection system within the company's premises, Phoenix opted to get a fire truck so that it can be used to aid the city's fire department in the event of fires.

The fire truck is especially equipped with a foam proportioning system, designed to put out residential and industrial fires. Phoenix Petroleum intends to join other Davao-based petroleum companies in fighting industrial fires.

The fire truck is based in the Phoenix Bulk Depot Compound in Lanang, Davao City.

Feeding program

The first outreach program sponsored by Phoenix Petroleum and UDENNA Foundation was held the whole day of December 22, 2007. The feeding program was coordinated with the Office of Davao City Vice Mayor Sara Duterte, who also graced the event. Close to a thousand tribal folks came to Matina Aplaya Elementary School, with about 700 adults and 300 children.

The annual activity is organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in coordination with the City Government of Davao and international environmental groups. Team Phoenix cleaned the shoreline and the beachfront in Brgy. Pampanga, Coaco Beach, Lanang, Davao City.

Adopt A School Program

Phoenix Foundation participates in the government’s “Adopt A School Program” through the Hizon Elementary School in Davao City.

The school’s budget had been reduced by the Department of Education. From four teachers and four pre-school classes, the school had to abandon two classes, two teachers, and about 100 students.

Phoenix now shoulders the honorarium of two pre-school teachers including budget for instructional materials every month. The beneficiary teachers are Mrs. Adelfa Bachanicha and Mrs. Maria Liles Marcellana. Mrs. Bachanicha has been a pre school teacher for 17 years and Mrs Marcellana for 9 years.

The sponsorship is for one semester from July 2008 to March 2009.

Using PFPI’s budget for instructional materials, the school is buying children’s books and reference materials. They are also slowly making a pre-school library which they will name the Phoenix Library.

Through this Adopt a School Program of Phoenix, we are able to help not only two dedicated pre-school teachers but save the education of 100 young pupils who belong to the poor sector of our community.

Christmas for kids 2008

In December 2008, Phoenix Foundation celebrated Christmas with children.

On Dec. 12, Phoenix joined the Resources for the Blind in "Panagsadya 08," a Christmas party for blind children held at the NCCC Mall, Ma-a, Davao City. Games, entertainment, food, and gift-giving brought smiles to the children's faces. Phoenix donated 10 sacks of rice as part of the give-aways.

On Dec. 22, Phoenix Foundation held a Christmas Outreach Program to children in Brgy. Bo. Pampanga. Over a thousand children enjoyed the games and received snacks, toys, and school supplies.
