Phoenix Philippines Foundation, Inc. formally turned over two houses to beneficiaries at the Uswag GK Designer Village in Brgy. Kinuban, Maco, Compostela Valley. The beneficiaries are victims and families affected by the landslide in Masara, Maco on September 2008. The disaster killed dozens, injured more, and affected hundreds of families.
The turnover held on December 5, 2009 highlighted the cooperation of various stakeholders to build a total of 204 homes in so short a time. The community was able to turn the tragedy into an opportunity for unity. The houses were built by the beneficiaries with the help of the provincial and local government, DSWD, Gawad Kalinga, and sponsors like Phoenix Foundation.
Prior to donating two houses, Phoenix Philippines Foundation last year went to the landslide area to hand over relief goods consisting of a truckload of rice, noodles, and canned goods.

The Uswag GK Designer Village in Brgy. Kinuban, Maco, Compostela Valley has 88 houses in a two-hectare land.

Comval governor Arturo Uy (center) and Phoenix Corporate Affairs Manager Ben Sur turn over Phoenix Foundation’s donated two houses to beneficiaries. With them are Maco Mayor Carlos Voltaire Rimando and Vice Mayor Charles Suelto.

The Uswag GK Designer Village is meant to be the design model of future Uswag GK houses.

The DSWD-CSAP village has 116 quadruplex homes.
